Happy Spooky Season and welcome to the official kick-off of Ghoulhammer 2023! It is I, your Mistress of Misery, Marcy, here to help guide you along through the next few weeks as we’ll be working on giving you some great, ghoulish treats to tickle your fancy and get you in the mood for Halloween and beyond. Ghoulhammer is one of my favorite times of year on this site, because I absolutely love horror and Halloween, so sharing that love with you all through this site is something I’m really looking forward to!
This year, we’re hoping to make you scream and shout with a collection of seasonally appropriate guides, reviews, and articles, and some of the fun has already begun! We’re looking to provide you with some scares and frights every day, so be on the lookout for some upcoming articles and columns you love. I hope you’ve got your costume picked out for the year; this year, I had my friend help me make mine, and I’m quite in love with it!
Once you’re all suited up and ready to enjoy the season, we’ve got all the content you creeps might crave: We’ve got reviews of horror games coming down the pipeline, you’ll also want to stay tuned for horrifying trips into the stacks for Goonhammer Readers Horror, a very special edition of Goonhammer Watches Horror, and much more, including a very special Meatwatch from our beloved Greg. There’s also going to be themed How to Paint Everything’s, including a return of many of our seasonable favorites from previous years.
If you can’t wait to get started with new content, we’ve got a few treats you can check out in keeping with the season right now:
Last week, our very own Luke reviewed the TTRPG Monster of the Week, and what better way to perhaps spice up your Halloween get togethers than a TV-inspired monster campaign. I had an interview with Zentreya where we talked our love of Halloween, horror movies, and so much more, if you need a long read to while the time away until the witching hour. We also rolled out our new and improved Death Guard painting guide, and what better army to kick off creepy crawly content than something Nurgle inspired? At the very least, it’ll help you practice your decaying flesh and open wounds, as well as all manner of awful accoutrements.
Later today, you can even check out Turn Order’s introductory post of their ongoing digests and reports of their Vampire: The Requiem campaign, and you’ll also find our first new thematic How to Paint Everything for the year: tentacles! So be sure to give them a big slimy hug hello as you learn how to help spice up your table with appendages not of this world.
Keep your eyes peeled, dear reader, because every day you can expect something new and exciting from us to tap into that seasonal dread and fear of the encroaching march of Christmas and the end of yet another year. But until then, as the temperatures cool, the days get longer, the priming windows shift, and the call of PSLs fill your mind, you don’t need to shamble your way to the end of the month bored and alone. We’ll be right by your side the whole time… or perhaps, we’ll be just right behind you, right out of your line of vision… when you take a step, maybe you’ll hear an extra one following you…
