Last Weekend’s Events

A huge week for UTC events. Not only did we have the finale for the 40k and AoS 2023 season but we also had 6 more events this past weekend. So with that said let’s dig in.

UTC 40k Finale

Let’s start with the big event, the 40k finale for the UTC. You can see more in depth and better coverage of the finale and the winning list in this week’s Competitive Innovations, but for those who aren’t in the business in checking other articles, Hypercrypt Necrons piloted by Matt Lorah with a very impressive game against Acurssed Cultist spam csm.

  • Matt Lorah (Vanguard Tactics) – Necrons
  • Joshia Campbell (Terran Battle Friends) – Chaos Space Marines
  • Derek Apsche (Cuddle Buddies) – Chaos Space Marines

UTC AoS Finale

Another event that has better coverage by more talented and powerful authors. The winner of the finale was Kaleb Walters with his Tzeentch army. Its worth noting I was also the paint judge for this event, and Kaleb’s Tzeentch looked amazing with some fantastic conversions and was a contender for best painted as well.

  • Kaleb Walters (Bottom Table Bullies) – Disciples of Tzeentch
  • Nicholas Walters (Bottom Table Bullies) – Ironjawz
  • Bill Hennessey (Bottom Table Bullies) – Soulblight Gravelords

UTC Kill Team

Last but not least for our UTC events, we have the Kill Team GT. The event was won by Liam Garrett and their Ork Kommandos. Congrats Liam!

  • Liam Garrett (Plasma Spam) – Ork Kommandos
  • Nick Craven (Plasma Spam) – Blooded
  • Leander Garrett (Plasma Spam) – Veteran Guardsmen

Games N Friends January RTT

(Springfield, MA)

For our normal events for the season, we’re kicking off with the January RTT at Games N Friends. The event was won by Mike DeAngelis running an eldar list with 10 striking scorpions led by Karandras. I never want to hear that there are bad units in the Eldar index again.

  • Mike DeAngelis (Team Battle Brothers) – Asuryani
  • Thomas Davies (Goats in Trees) – Space Wolves
  • Todd Plourde (Death or Glory) – Leagues of Votann

Your Hobby Place Presents: 2k AOS RTT

(Martinsburg, WV)

Frostlord on Stonehorn from Games Workshop. An ogre riding atop a mighty moss green, ivory horned beast.

On the AoS side we have an RTT from Your Hobby Place in West Viginia. The event was won by Blaine Woodward’s Ogors running a whole mess of Stonehorns with some Thundertusks for support.

  • Blaine Woodward (Team Big Chungus) – Ogre Mawtribes
  • William Harrus (TILT) – Ironjawz
  • Andrew Hoffmann (TILT) – Stormcast Eternals

Palladium Games January AoS RTT

Another AoS event up in Phoenixville, with this one being won by Jason Acosta’s Sons of Behemat. Unfortunately they didn’t submit a list so we can only wonder at what I can only assume is groundbreaking innovation in the giant space.

  • Jason Acosta – Sons of Behemat
  • Les Tucker (Palladium Paladins) – Blades of Khorne
  • Thaddeus Babiec (Bottom Table Bullies) – Sylvaneth

Of Might and Magic

(Brooklyn, NY)

Lots of AoS this week it seems as we have another event that went down over in Brooklyn, NY. This one was taken by Dan Karaban’s Kharadron Overlords. Unfortunately this is yet another unsubmitted list, so I can’t really comment on the stuff in it. I assume there was a dwarf with a gun in there somewhere.

  • Dan Karaban (Gryph-hound Gang) – Kharadron Overlords
  • Graham Wrenn – Beasts of Chaos
  • Chai Tzola (NYC Warhammer) – Blades of Khorne

The Art Store Age of Sigmar Tournament

(Syracuse, NY)

For our last AoS event we have an RTT coming out of Syracuse. Connor Irwin took the gold with his Stormcast Eternals, taking the new Ionus Cryptborn out for a spin supporting a ton of vanguard units. Congrats Connor!

  • Connor Irwin (Hard Pass) – Stormcast Eternals
  • Ethan Beers (Bangarang) – Hosts of Slaanesh
  • Ian Lainhart (Team DMG) – Ogor Mawtribes

January YHP Alexandria 40k RTT

(Alexandria, VA)

Back on the 40k side we have an RTT from Your Hobby Place in Alaxandria. Now we may have another Aeldari win here, piloted by Chad Wells, but I gotta give credit where credit is due for the 10 man wraithblade brick. There seems to be no bad way to build this army.

  • Chad Wells (Strange Echoes) – Aeldari
  • John Brock (JB5) – Death Guard
  • Andrew W (Victory Gamers) – Imperial Knights

TJ Cafe & Games January 40K Tournament

(Milford, MA)

Last but not least we have our last 40k event for the week. Not only did Sisters win the event, but they also took every podium spot it seems. Best of them all Was Alex Ing’s build working around the Triumph and Junith Eruita but it seems sisters may just be overall pretty good.

  • Alex Ing (Death or Glory) – Adepta Sororitas
  • Gil Fuhr (Gardner Game Knights) – Adepta Sororitas
  • Josh Titus – Adepta Sororitas
