Last Weekend’s Event

Welcome back to another UTC event recap. Another light week of 40k to get through so lets get rolling.

Rusty’s Heroes

Starting up in Canada, we have a 40k RTT. Brett Bambridge won the event with a proper Militarum Tempestus list featuring five units of Tempestus Scions and even some Taurox Primes with some Scout Sentinel support. It seems the dataslate’s buff to orders out of deepstrike paid off in a big way for these kinds of lists. Congrats Brett!

  • Brett Bambridge – Militarum Tempestus
  • Logan Litzenberger (Northern Front) – Chaos Daemons
  • Justin Elliot (The B Siders) – Astra Militarum

The Long War – The Tide of Battle

(Mahone Bay, NS)

Staying up in Canada, we have another 40k event. This time Mike Chapeau’s Imperial Knights took the day. The list features Canis, a Knight Valiant (thats the harpoon one), and a whole mess of armigers for support. I’ve been telling my buddy who plays knights for weeks that the Valiant is great now with the changes to the detachment rule and will absolutely be using this as evidence.

  • Mike Chapeau (Northern Front) – Imperial Knights
  • James Munday (Munday) – Chaos Space Marines
  • Michael Munday (Munday) – Space Marines

The Grim Dark Rumpus – 40K Winter

(Rutland, VT)

A photo of the final round

Coming from the great white north, we have an event out of Vermont. Chris Root’s World Eaters took this one with a list that went very heavy on Eightbound. According to sources on the ground, the final game fully hinged on this game hinged on Chis’ opponent taking out Angron turn one for a decisive blow to the core of his army. His opponent was successful, unfortunately Angron didn’t stay down for long, and was back in round 2 to continue wreaking havoc.

  • Chris Root (CBUM) – World Eaters
  • Brian Moll – Orks
  • Floyd Porter – Death Guard

Last up we have an event from my neck of the woods in Virginia. I’ll be honest, gang, I’m not gonna talk about my performance in this one and it’s not because of how well I did. Let’s just say I have fresh hatred for Lokhust Heavy Destroyers. What is worth talking about though is winner Steven Page’s list. Before the RTT started it was discovered we had an odd number of players, so Steve decided to join as a ringer with a joke Annihilation Legion list. For those not in the know, this detachment sucks and the datasheets it supports are not much better. Steven however, is just that damn good that he took these bozos all the way to the top (running right through me in round two, shattering my ego in a way that I have not quite recovered from). It’s worth noting team PCA (my local store’s team) did sweep this event along with me winning best painted so the local boys made good here.

  • Steven Page (Plastic Crack Anonymous) – Necrons
  • Jonas Beardsley (Plastic Crack Anonymous) – Astra Militarum
  • Andrew Nguyen (Plastic Crack Anonymous) – Black Templars
