UTC Recap and Preview: June 22, 2023

The Unified Tournament Circuit is a regional circuit for Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar which covers the area between Virginia and Newfoundland. In case you missed our announcement, you can find it here.

You can find the full calendar of UTC events here.

We’re in the final days of Warhammer 40,000’s 9th edition but there’s still plenty of competition going on because 9th edition events count the same as 10th edition ones when it comes to UTC and ITC scoring. Plus, there’s still tons of Age of Sigmar play to be had by people who are looking forward to the new General’s Handbook. So let’s dive into this past weekend’s events, because there’s a lot to cover.

Last Weekend’s Events

There were only two UTC events last weekend, both for 40k: A Teams event in Montreal, and a 10th edition RTT run by the madman Dom up at Fabricator’s Forge. Let’s take a look at each.

Tournois D’équipe d’Imperia-Lys VI (40k Teams)

(Montreal, QC)

This two-day teams event saw six teams competing for top honors, with Team Imperia-Lys Prime emerging on top after five rounds and defeating Trash-Tier in the final round.

  • Bruno Choquette – Chaos Daemons
  • Edouard Denommee – Aeldari
  • Franck Lortie – Adeptus Mechanicus
  • John Winter Russell – Astra Militarum
  • Yves Jean-baptiste – Adeptus Astartes

Fabricator’s Forge June RTT (40k)

(Corapolis, PA)

More than ready to jump the gun, this 26-player, 3-round RTT used 10th edition rules (with a nice assist from the Tabletop Battles App) to track scoring. First place at the event went to Lewis Stolburg (Fabricator’s Forge), running Chaos Daemons with Be’lakor, Flesh Hounds, Flamers, a Bloodthirster, Horrors, and a Great Unclean One.

  1. Lewis Stolburg (Fabricator’s Forge) – Chaos Daemons running Be’lakor and two other greater daemons
  2. Shawn Bair (Epic Battles) – Adepta Sororitas runnning Vahl, Celestine, two Exorcists, two Immolators, and two Castigators.
  3. Tyler Lark (Arkham) – Chaos Daemons

Upcoming Events

We’re going to be getting into 40k events over the next few weeks, and I’m excited to see how the meta shakes out in these early days.
