The Road to LVO: End of the Road

This is the end, beautiful friend. This is the end, my only friend, the end.

I didn’t think I’d finish, honestly. But here we are on the eve of LVO and the army is complete.

Since the last update  I’ve had the opportunity to compete in an RTT, played a pick-up game, and a league match. I had hoped to type up a report on these games but unfortunately time was not on my side this week. I did go 4-1 in this span, taking second in the RTT with a 3-0 showing against two Ultramarine opponents and an Imperial Guard tank company. A fourth game against a Blood Angel alpha strike murder list was an eye-opening experience, but at the end of the day I was able to outlast the devastating initial charges. It was the fifth game, a league match against Ben Cherwien’s Black Templars where I took my first loss of 2020. A close game that resulted in a 1-point loss; turns out a large block of deep-striking Storm Shield Terminators just Devout Push’ing themselves around and preventing fallbacks is a hell of a game-plan wrecker when a bunch of untargetable combat characters are bearing down on you. Anyway, a game against Ben is always a treat and it taught me a couple of lessons that are applicable to tomorrow – even if I don’t face Black Templars.

Before I dig out the final photos of the army, let’s revisit my predictions from my original article:

My Personal Performance Goals:

  • Finish with a record of 4-2 or better
  • Make friends along the way

My Predictions for the LVO Top 8 lists:

My Prediction for the Tournament Winner:

  • Adeptus Astartes

I do think Ben has an excellent shot at top 8, however, and as you may recall from the original article, I have a $100 bet with him that Eldar will not take a top 8 position. Therefore I cannot jinx myself. I need that $100 so I can walk-in, place it all on black, then walk out 30 seconds later feeling deeply ashamed of myself. Anyway, without further ado here are the final pictures of the army:
