The Goonhammer Open UK March 2025 – Awards and Thank Yous

This weekend saw 2025’s first Goonhammer Open, our biggest event in the UK with over 175 in attendance spanning four different systems and multiple floors of our venue.

Thank Yous

Before we get to the results, this event would not be possible if it were not for the assistance and support of many different people.

  • Bandua Wargaming, our primary terrain partner whose wide variety of terrain for each system (reviews for 40K / Kill Team / Zone Mortalis) sets the battlefield for our games to take place.
    • We were incredibly lucky to meet Pablo and Danny this weekend, who travelled all the way from Spain to meet us and connect with our UK community.

  • Element Games for providing a plethora of vouchers for broad prize pool.
  • Modphius for their incredibly generous support of the Fallout Factions event, with insane prize pool and early access to new kits and rules for attendees.
    • Special thanks go out Dom Westerland, Andy Douthwaite, Justin Talsma, Jess Gibbs and Samatha Webb for their support.
  • Artis Opus for their incredibly powerful gregbot powered brushes and lush Goonhammer dice trays.
  • Alex and all the staff at Lvl1 and the De Montfort Student Union for making the event as smooth as possible.
  • Most importantly all of our volunteers and staff who helped setup and pack up –  an under-appreciated but absolutely vital component of any event.
    • Particular thanks go out to Toby for their assistance with transport; James for running 40K; Max and Zach for running Horus Heresy; John, Jon and Charles for running Kill Team; and Evie for running Fallout Factions.
    • Thank you to our spare players, Dan and Kevan, who ensured that everyone’s dice kept rolling.

Horus Heresy

Our Horus Heresy event this weekend was a narrative campaign exploring the events of the Sack of Tallarn, which any remembrancer will tell you is onE of the largest tank engagements that the universe has seen. My friends, it was.

Witness upon Zach/Jellymuppet’s work and despair at the Sack of Tallarn March GHO 2025

Between 48 players, we had over 450 vehicles take to field — 20 of which were superheavies. It was frankly absurd and we are so happy that our community bought into our bullshit.
