The Big Grotmas Round-up

On December 25th, as the earliest rays of dawn’s light crept o’er the landscape and into our bedroom, the Goonhammer team rose from our one big, four-post bed in the attic above the Goonhammer office and, eyes atwinkle with new possibility, rushed to the window. Had our visions just been a hallucination? Might there still be time to change our fates?

Flinging open the shutters to our window, we looked out upon a Victorian London, covered in a fresh blanket of snow and called out to the young boy passing below in the street.

“You there, boy! What day is it?”

“Piss off, old man!” the boy cried, hurling a rock at us.

Behold, the magic of the season was not lost! The spirit of raw loathing that we feel on the battlefield had not vanished, but instead was alive and well. Truly, ’twas a Merry Grotmas indeed!

This was the busiest December we’ve ever seen out of Games Workshop, chock full of new rules, Detachments, and updates for both Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar. It’s finally over, and if you missed any of it, you can find it all below.

Warhammer 40k Game Updates

Beyond just the Detachments, we had a number of major game and balance updates in December for Warhammer 40k, shifting competitive balance for the game substantially and adding a new unit.

Warhammer 40k Detachments

Grotmas delivered a whopping 30! Detachments for Warhammer 40k, none of them duplicates or pull-fowards.

Video Content

We did a ton of videos on these as well, doing a video version of each Detachment Focus article (save the Imperial Agents one). You can find all of our videos over on our YouTube channel.

Age of Sigmar Updates

Not to be outdone, there was also a big balance update for Age of Sigmar:

And as a special treat, we got a series of cross-Grand Alliance Regiments of Renown for players to work with.

That’s a ton to digest, and we’ll have more to say about it all in the new year. Until then, kick back, take it all in, and start building new lists.
