Bigger Than You Think
The Maintenance Bay Terrain Pack is the latest addition to Star Wars: Shatterpoint terrain offerings, and it will be released on August 16, 2024. With the release date recently announced, we wanted to preview some Adepticon painting options and share our thoughts on this centerpiece as we inch closer to the ‘outer rim’ location coming to light.
What’s Included
The Maintenance Bay Terrain Pack features an Outer Rim-themed Maintenance Bay and a mischievous Womp Rat. Designed as a thematic centerpiece, it is visually striking and functional. It can provide cover while enhancing strategic elements that other terrain pieces have yet to accomplish. This piece will seamlessly integrate into the existing terrain catalog for Star Wars: Shatterpoint.
The back of the box proudly proclaims, “This terrain pack expands the Star Wars: Shatterpoint battlefields with a maintenance bay and a Womp rat that add a large centerpiece and even more thematic flair to your battles in a galaxy far, far away.”

Price Point Feedback
With an MSRP of $85, it’s impossible not to do a double-take. Official terrain is appreciated, but many feel that a single piece costs too much at $85. However when you compare it to the other two options of Take Cover and High Ground Terrain Pack at $75 the Maintenance Bay pricing aligns. The piece is larger than what is included in previous terrain packs for around the same price point.
Gameplay Impact Roundup
One of this terrain pack’s key highlights is its battlefield functionality. We spoke to Aman Khusro from the Hello There Podcast, and he said, “I’m really excited about this upcoming Terrain piece because it looks amazing. After understanding how AMG wants the game to be played competitively, this will add more depth to tables that utilize the official terrain.
What I like about it gameplay-wise is the fact that it adds potential for a large LOS blocking piece—which will actually make a difference. I also like how if an objective is placed up on that small gantry, it’ll make for a hotly contested space with little room. It comes with a built-in ladder, which is nice because often, the ladder falls down quite a bit. Also, who doesn’t love a Womp rat?”
Chris Mcleroy, who also played on the Adepticon tournament tables weighed in, “It (the terrain pack) seems like a good thing for the game overall. I like that it has that “bay” area that is blocking some LOS but has openings. I like the little catwalk thing above. The critter is silly, but I love it!
Maintenance Bay Painting Showcase
Almost every table at Adepticon 2024 featured one Maintenance Bay. Here are the highlights and inspiration from those who spent the time prepping and painting the tournament tables. You may also spy the AMG official table bumpers.

The ‘Outer Rim’
“I used to bull’s-eye womp rats in my T-16 back home. They’re not much bigger than two meters.”
– Luke Skywalker
Since launch, Shatterpoint has been tiptoeing around the terrain pack theme. We have a swoop bike, jagged dusty rocks, an official sandy-weathered paint scheme, and now a Womp rat. Without calling it the most wretched hive for scum & villainy, we can take a leap.
Our Wishlist for Official Terrain:
- Volcanic hellscape - Junk world - Historic sandy battlefield - Swampy nightmare - Blood-red wasteland | - Water world - Snowy trenches - Amusement park outpost - Big forests - Grassy paradise |
The Maintenance Bay will enhance your gaming experience with it’s visually striking and functional design, adding an impressive centerpiece to the sandy ‘Outer Rim’ terrain. The diverse showcases from Adepticon 2024 can provide inspiration for customizing your own piece. Hopefully you have gotten inspiration from the diverse showcase.
Playing with the Maintenance Bay at Adepticon added a new tactical element to the game creating a dense LOS piece. It is nice to have the option to field an entire battlefield of matching terrain. I will be picking up this terrain piece. Whether or not you agree, one thing is sure: every battlefield needs a Womp rat.
