Ministravaganza 2024 Round Up: Marvel Crisis Protocol

Atomic Mass Games held their annual Ministravaganza on July 18-20.  They had extensive news and updates for Star Wars: Shatterpoint, Marvel Crisis Protocol, and Star Wars: Legion.  In case you missed it, here is a one-stop round-up for all of the Marvel Crisis Protocol news that AMG announced during Ministravaganza.

Hobby Room: Dark Future

Dallas showed off the reincarnation chamber terrain piece for Apocalypse.  He had a completely painted version and a work in progress that he painted during the stream.  This terrain piece looks really impressive.  I see a lot of Ancient Egypt-themed tables popping up all over the place in the near future.

Three new themed groups of terrain were featured here that are tied to Apocalypse.

This was the big one of Day 1 for MCP.  Both Will Pagani and Will Schick teased in an episode of the Strike Better podcast that they were going to reveal a ton of information about Apocalypse, and boy did they deliver.  Apocalypse will have his own affiliation (Servants of Apocalypse), and a unique mechanic (Master of the Horsemen) that goes along with his leadership with his Four Horsemen. They also revealed and discussed the new Ultimate Encounter that will come with Apocalypse.

The panel revealed the healthy side of one of Apocalypse’s more famous horsemen: Archangel.  He looks like a fun way to hand out conditions and activated tokens to opponents.

They revealed that the back of the Horsemen cards actually fit together to form a pretty cool looking mural and the challenges that came with designing that kind of art piece.  They also revealed the abilities of all four of Apocalypse’s Horsemen

Another painting session with Dallas.  This time he was putting down some color onto Apocalypse. That model looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

War Table: Creating Team Tactics

Apocalypse Team Tactics Cards

The panel revealed two of the TTCs that are included with Apocalypse in The First One and Survival.

Mephisto Team Tactics Cards

The cards Embrace the Inferno and Brand New Day were revealed for the unreleased character Mephisto.  After seeing these cards, I am really interested in Mephisto and how he will impact the game when he is released.  I love how they’ve incorporated the character into these cards.

New Mutants

During a discussion of the TTC Survive the Night, it was revealed that there is a new affiliation coming to the game with Sunspot and Warlock: New Mutants.  Movie aside, this is a really fun affiliation to be bringing to the game, and I’m really excited about the possible characters this could bring into MCP.

TTC Rotation/Reimagining

This will probably be the biggest news from this panel.  AMG has released a new list of TTCs that are being rotated out of the game.  They did make sure to point out that rotation did not mean they would never come back to the game, which is the case if a card is banned.  Some staple TTCs like Eyes on the Prize, Mission Objective, Marked For Death among others are on the list.  Additionally, they announced a complete re-working of Mystique’s TTC Deception as well as X-Ceptional Healing. These are now Stolen Identity and Instant Recovery, respectively, and are available to print and play with immediately from here.

Marvel Crisis Protocol Road Map

Showing off new models and when they will be released is always a highlight for events that AMG hosts, and Ministravaganza 2024 didn’t disappoint for Marvel: Crisis Protocol.  They showed off several cards of unreleased characters, as well as several previously unannounced characters. Check them out below!

Weapon X/Maverick

Some really interesting characters here. Weapon X is the most murdery version of Logan currently in the game, and has Healing Factor (3) so you don’t have to be too worried about putting him in the middle and mixing it up with opponents.  I really like Maverick and his anti-healing factor attacks.

Sunspot/Warlock

Two new mutants finally had the healthy side of their card revealed.  The developers also revealed that the New Mutants leadership will be a card that will allow Magick to be their leader. They also said that this would not be the only version of Sunspot that will be in the game.

Angel

Angel is mean to be more of a support character than his box-mate Archangel.  Really love the sculpt and the possibilities that he will open up on the table.

Werewolf By Night/N’Kantu the Living Mummy

These were first previewed at Adepticon, and now we get to see some painted versions of the models, and also part of Jack Russell’s card.  It was also revealed that these characters will be Midnight Sons affiliated, which I think everyone assumed they would be, but now it’s official.

Dracula/Frankenstein’s Monster

The second half of the Dracula’s Tomb set, the team only revealed the first half of Dracula’s card.  Dracula is not a Midnight Son, but it was hinted that he slots into some of the “evil” affiliations in the game, and that he will have a TTC for his own affiliation, Vampire Thrall.

They referenced a Moon Knight meme while discussing this one-shot, which was pretty funny.

Abomination and The Wrecking Crew

The development team explained that The Wrecking Crew was put on one base because thematically they work better when they’re all together than when they are apart.  Additionally, they had originally planned on Abomination being the third model they released in the entire game, but Marvel advised them to release M.O.D.O.K instead.  Finally, Abomination was sculpted specifically to pair with Immortal Hulk to create a cinematic tableau.

Mephisto

Not much to say here except that we get to see all of his TTCs and a painted version of the render that was shown at Adepticon.

Finalized Miniatures

Not much was announced alongside these finalized miniatures. Elsa Bloodstone is a new leader for Midnight Sons and both sets of models will be released in Q1 2025.

Some really exciting releases for the future! I am especially excited for Phoenix, Ronin, Echo, Tigra, and the Spider-Verse box set.
