Today Mantic Announced they’re working a new Halo tabletop miniatures game, due for a direct retail release in September, 2024. Mantic have teamed up with 343 Industries to bring what they’ve claimed will be an incredibly authentic way to experience Halo on the tabletop.
From what we know so far, you’ll be taking control of a team of 40mm Spartans in a competitive tabletop game with Mantic Games usual focus on intuitive rules and fast game play that should make for a compelling and engaging experience. Whether that means you’ll be able to relive your youth playing rocket tag in Waterworks, or running down a careless opponent with a Warthog in Blood Gulch, remains to be seen.
Prospective players will be able to find out more in March, with Mantic Games and 343 providing their first preview of the game. Keep an eye on Mantic News to stay up to date with the latest developments and keep checking back here as we learn more – we’re pretty excited about this one. While the current announcement is mum on the prospect of enemy factions like the Covenant, Flood, or Prometheans, we’re hopeful they won’t be too far away.
A Halo tabletop game makes a ton of sense at multiple scales, and is something players have been at least thinking about since the epic Halo 3 ‘Believe’ trailer showcased at E3 2006 featuring a massive diorama showcasing a massive battle between miniature USNC marines and the Covenant.
