The Week Ending June 29, 2019

Although it’s a big internet out there, the Warhammer digital universe is pretty small and spread out. In Content We Liked, we take a look at the articles, videos, podcasts, and products that caught our eyes or were noteworthy during the prior week you might have missed. Here’s what we liked this week:

In the Wild:

  • Mathammer
    In the Finest Hour Podcast
The In the Finest Hour podcast covers “Mathammer” this week, or looking at statistics and math in 40k. You may remember that this is a topic that is near and dear to our hearts, and so we’re always in favor of more discussions and awareness of how to up your game by understanding probability.
  • An interesting conversation about modeling for advantage
    r/WarhammerCompetitive
Durathakai has a story about an interaction with another player that prompts a lengthy discussion on r/WarhammerCompetitive.
  • My First ITC Tournament: Why Competitive Play is Important
    Hobby Vices
While we didn’t love his list, we loved Andrew’s article about playing in an ITC Tournament for the first time, and about his experiences. We also couldn’t agree more about the importance of competitive play and how pleasant it can be.
  • Mindfulness for the Apocalypse
    The Regimental Standard
While we count down the days to the new Apocalypse release (most of us are really excited about the new rules and being able to play huge games in a reasonable time frame), we were pleasantly surprised by the accompanying Regimental Standard. While we love the Standard already, “Mindfulness for the Apocalypse” had several of us wondering if we could get it printed out as a poster for our walls.
  • Hang Out and Paint with Rhu James
Warhammer Twitch Channel, note: Requires Subscription
Hang Out and Paint is usually pretty good, but their episode with special guest Rhu James was particularly solid. We also love the Chaos Knights army he’s been working on for the “Road to the Apocalypse” series Warhammer Community is doing.
  • Primaris Marine Bought Contrast Paints and is Tweeting About It
    @Me-U317
Sometimes a conversion perfectly captures the zeitgeist of the moment. Also just generally, Japanese hobby Twitter is great.
