Atra’Zan is one of Be’lakor’s most trusted Lieutenants in his fight against the forces of Order during Broken Realms: Be’lakor. The book represents this with a brand new battalion that can be used by Disciples of Tzeentch under the Eternal Conflagration cult
Atra’Zan’s Blazing Cavalcade

When I first saw this battalion on Warhammer Community based on the name and description I assumed it was going to be locked to Eternal Conflagration and sadly I was right. It’s a shame because Eternal Conflagration is, in my opinion, the most boring of subfactions. Anyway,
The components of the battalion are about what you’d expect from a box with 3 kits in it, where 2 of the kits apply to the same warscroll:
- 1 Fateskimmer, Herald on Chariot: (and if you guessed that this was Atra’Zan himself, you would be right)
- 1-3 units of Horrors: of any unit size number, but cannot have more than 30 Horrors between all the units in the battalion
If your Horrors ever charge, +1 attack. (Don’t even THINK about using Reckless Abandon Agenda on them…the Battalion Warscroll specifically calls this out.)
The comet Surfin pyromaniac has pyromania’d so much, he gets to know the Tzeentch’s Firestorm spell from the Lore of Change from the Disciples of Tzeentch Battletome, in addition to the spells that he normally knows. He gets a +2 to cast specifically that 1 spell baby. Cuz “Burn things” is definitely his motto.
I don’t know why you would take this to be honest, in Eternal Conflagration. You could have a 2 drop list if you combined it with Archaon. So that’s a potential cute trick I guess.
RagnarokAngel’s take: I’m a bit more charitable to this. Sure Eternal Conflagration isn’t the most unique of the subfactions, but it has its place in tournaments and sees a lot of use. The warscroll isn’t too bad, especially since it largely includes units you’re bringing anyway.
+1 attack to Horrors is pretty damn scary, and the biggest drawback to Firestorm of Tzeentch is how insanely hard it is to cast at Casting Value 9, so +2 makes casting rolls a much more manageable 7 up.
Do I think it’s going to see a lot of use? Probably not, Firestorm of Tzeentch is exceedingly swingy in terms of damage but it’s still a freebie so you can just not use it, and you can still fall back on the +1 attack for your battleline pink horrors you brought anyway.

After ages of silence the followers of the Old Ones appear to assist the Agents of Order to help stop the rampaging anarchy of Be’Lakor that threatens to undue the plans of the Old Ones. Stay tuned!
